A case has been filed against 14 Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League leaders and activists, including former central general secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) S. M. Zakir Hossain, on charges of attacking polling centers, snatching ballots, casting fake votes, and assaulting opposition agents and supporters during the 11th National Parliament elections in Barlekha, Moulvibazar.
Sumon Ahmed, Joint Convener of the Barlekha Municipal Jubo Dal, filed the case at Barlekha Police Station on Friday (June 20) night. The lawsuit also includes 15-20 unnamed individuals as accused.
The named defendants in the case are: S. M. Zakir Hossain (former central general secretary of Chhatra League), Kabir Ahmed (former Environment Minister's APS), AKM Helal Uddin (Upazila Awami League Joint General Secretary), Jalal Ahmed (Sadar Union Jubo League President), Saleh Ahmed Jewel (District Jubo League Member), Sabul Ahmed (Upazila Jubo League Sports Affairs Secretary), Saidul Islam (financier of the attack), Jubo League leaders Mostofa Uddin Badol, Mizanur Rahman Titu, Saiful Islam, Awal Ahmed, Jamal Uddin, Fakhrul Islam, and Sadikur Rahman (Municipal Chhatra League Assistant Organizing Secretary).
Barlekha Police Station's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahbub Rahman confirmed the filing of the case, stating, "Based on the written complaint, a case (No. 12, dated: 20/06/2025) has been recorded under the relevant sections. The matter is under investigation, and further legal action will be taken after the investigation is completed."
