On the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of Uttarmulaim Malliksarai Fazil Madrasa in Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila, a reunion was organized by more than six hundred former students.
The event was held on Thursday (December 25) at 11:00 a.m. at the Eidgah field adjacent to the madrasa. Along with current students, many distinguished former students were also present.
The program was presided over by the Principal of the madrasa, Maulana Shamsul Islam, and conducted by the Chief Advisor of the Students’ Welfare Council, Maulana Belalur Rahman. The chief guest at the event was Maulana Imad Uddin Chowdhury Fultali, while the special guest was District Education Officer Mohammad Fazlur Rahman. In their speeches, the guests praised the initiative of the Students’ Welfare Council and assured their continued support for the madrasa whenever needed.
On behalf of the former students, Mohammad Shahabuddin expressed gratitude to the invited guests and the teachers of the madrasa for making such an event possible, and he also pledged to continue organizing similar programs in the future. In addition, many former students from abroad joined the event virtually.
Mohammad Mazharul Islam Litu, a UK expatriate and President of the Students’ Welfare Council, said that although he felt sad for not being able to attend physically, such events strengthen the bond between students and teachers. UK expatriate and Organizational Secretary of the Students’ Welfare Council, Sabbir Ahmed, said that gatherings like this create opportunities to reconnect with many familiar faces from the past. He added that expatriates will try to attend in person if such events are organized again in the future.
Later, the reunion concluded with a delightful Islamic cultural program and a prayer.
