4 More Children Die as Measles Cases Rise at RMCH

The number of deaths linked to measles-like symptoms is continuing to increase at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH), with four more children dying in the last 24 hours.

According to hospital spokesperson Dr. Shankar K Biswas, the children who died were between six months and three years old. With these new deaths, the total number of fatalities at the hospital has reached 50 since the outbreak began.

During the same period, 27 new patients were admitted, while 24 recovered and were discharged. Currently, 132 patients with measles-like symptoms are receiving treatment in the hospital’s isolation ward, including 12 in the ICU.

So far, a total of 479 patients with such symptoms have been admitted to RMCH. Authorities say special measures have been put in place to control the situation as cases continue to rise.
