Community United for Relief and Empowerment (CURE) organized an important awareness session on “Safe Choice, Safe Space” on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Shahid Zia Government Primary School and Srinath Government Primary School in Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila.

Over 150 students participated in the session, which focused on vital topics such as understanding safe and unsafe touch, awareness about private body parts, and knowing what actions to take if they experience inappropriate touch.

Parul Begum, Head Teacher of Shahid Zia Government Primary School, emphasized the importance of such initiatives, stating, “Initiatives like this are vital to ensure student safety. We are also working to train our teachers so they can offer proper support to students in sensitive situations.”

Salma Akhter, Assistant Teacher at Srinath Government Primary School, highlighted the need for body awareness among children, saying, “Building body-awareness among children is essential. We want them to feel empowered to speak openly and seek help without fear. This session was an important step toward that goal.”

The impact of the session was evident in the students’ understanding. Liza, a fourth-grade student, shared, “I now understand what unsafe touch is. I will talk to my mother if anything feels wrong.” Raqib, a fifth-grader, added, “We learned that our bodies belong to us. We don’t have to let anyone touch us without our permission.”

Moving forward, two teachers, one from each school, have been assigned to work closely with students on this crucial subject. The session concluded with a group photo, marking a positive and engaging learning experience for all involved.
