The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain and thunderstorms with possible nor’wester storms in several parts of the country, including Dhaka, over the next 12 hours starting from Thursday morning.
According to the Met office, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions may experience thundershowers along with strong winds from the west or northwest, with gusts reaching 60–80 km/h or higher. Lightning and isolated hailstorms are also possible.
Other divisions like Rangpur and Mymensingh may see rain with gusty winds and lightning in some areas, while Rajshahi could experience similar conditions in a few places.
Temperatures across the country are expected to drop slightly, with daytime temperatures falling by 1–2°C and night temperatures also decreasing a bit.
The weather system is influenced by a low-pressure trough over West Bengal and a seasonal low over the South Bay of Bengal.
