Moulvibazar Human Rights Defenders Society Announces New Committee

A new committee of the Human Rights Defenders Society, Moulvibazar District Branch, has been announced, along with a review of the human rights situation for the month of April.

 

Friday (May 1), the district committee was officially announced through a press conference held in a hallroom at Chowmuhani in the town. At the same event, various incidents of human rights violations that occurred in Moulvibazar during April were presented.

 

A 22-member committee has been formed for a one-year term, with Jaber Ahmed as President and Oli Ahmed Mahin as General Secretary.

 

During the press conference, the newly elected President, Jaber Ahmed, presented a report on the district’s human rights situation over the past month.

 

According to the report, several incidents were observed in April, including violence related to women and children, conflicts over land disputes, and violations of citizens’ legal rights. The Human Rights Defenders Society pledged to stand beside the victims and provide legal and social support in the future.

 

Other members of the committee include: Vice Presidents Arafat Ahmed and Nakib Ahmod Mahe; Joint General Secretary Kamran Ahmed; Treasurer Al Amin; Organizing Secretary Wahid Hasan Jisan; Publicity and Publication Secretary Kamran Alam; Office Secretary Md. Abdullah; Information Research and Investigation Secretary Rabbi Mia; Human Rights and Legal Affairs Secretary Munaim Ahmed; Training Secretary Arif Ahmed Akand; Women and Children Affairs Secretary Sheikh Amirunnessa Alo; Minority Affairs Secretary Upoma Gowala; Documentation & Research Secretary Hifzur Rahman Khan; Joint Documentation & Research Secretary Poroma Deb Puja; International Secretary Shuvo Gowala; IT Secretary Md. Tahrim Hossain Tayef; and Executive Members Rezaul Hasan Rahi, Tousif Tayef, Sohag Ahmed Khan, and Tofayel Islam Rabbi.

 

In his speech, newly elected President Jaber Ahmed said, “The main objective of this committee will be to protect the fundamental rights of the people of Moulvibazar and to raise our voice against any form of injustice.”
