As in previous years, the Independence Day was celebrated with a discussion meeting and a rally. A group of young people took to the streets holding the red and green flag. Even in exile, the spirit of independence was in full swing.
Present at the street rally were the President of the Luton branch of the Awami League, Amir Khasru, and the General Secretary, Rubel Mia, along with numerous party activists. Mohammad Habibur Rahman Shamim, the Office Secretary of the Awami League’s Rajnagar Upazila unit in Moulvibazar district (currently residing abroad), told us that the rally and celebration brought a ray of hope for expatriates. It felt as if they were breathing the air of Bangladesh while in London.
Sweets were distributed during the event, and over 200 Awami League leaders and activists gathered from various areas. Responsible individuals gave speeches at the event, and following the speeches, a joyful rally was brought out. Directions and encouragement were given to the activists on how to contribute to the progress of the country.
The program lasted for about two hours. He said that the Independence Day was celebrated in Luton in a peaceful and well-organized manner.
