The 30th founding anniversary of Sundaram, the children and adolescent wing of the traditional cultural organization Khowai Theatre in Habiganj, was celebrated in a colorful manner. Founded in 1996 with the slogan “We will bring a bright dawn,” Sundaram observed its 30th anniversary on January 2, 2026. On this occasion, an event was held on Saturday, January 3, at the Khowai Theatre auditorium, beginning in the afternoon with the participation of a large number of children and adolescents. The program featured various games, fun activities, friendly gatherings, a cultural performance titled “Anander Alpana” directed by Zubaed Hussen, and a stage play “Takar Apod,” based on a short story by Sukumar Ray.
In the evening, an anniversary discussion session began under the moderation of Sundaram Coordinator Md. Moktadir Hossain and was presided over by Khowai Theatre President Tofazzal Sohel. Distinguished guests delivering speeches included Advocate Mansur Uddin Ahmed Iqbal, founding president of the Press Club; poet and storyteller Tahmina Begum Gini; freedom fighter and former chairman Mohammad Ali Momin; Gopi Mohan Das; theatre activist Nurjahan Biva of Natyamela; and Khowai Theatre General Secretary Sukanta Gop.
Speeches of greetings on the occasion of Sundaram’s anniversary were also delivered by Khowai Theatre Vice Presidents Siddiqi Harun and Saifur Rahman Chowdhury Paplu; Sundaram Co-Coordinator Zubaed Hossain; theatre activists Happy Bhowmik, Sheikh Osman Gani Rumi, Abdul Hamid, Habib Khokon, Tonuka Sen Mimu, Sharmin Ritu, Shrabani Dev, among others.
Later, prizes were distributed to the winners of the cultural competitions by the honored guests present. It is noteworthy that throughout the program, the Khowai Theatre auditorium remained festive with the presence of children, adolescents, parents, and spectators.
