CURE-Bangladesh, a leading organization working for stronger communities, recently held an important one-day training session called “Safe Choice, Safe Space.” The aim was to give young volunteers the vital know-how on keeping children safe, understanding personal boundaries, and staying secure online. On April 15, 2025, 35 dedicated volunteers took part in the event, learning from experienced trainers from Mekateam.

The training included two main parts, designed to help the volunteers make a real difference in their work. Ten volunteers received special Training of Trainers (TOT) on what is okay to touch and what is not, along with broader child protection ideas. This deeper learning will allow them to share their knowledge with more people in their communities. At the same time, all 35 participants attended a session on using social media wisely and staying safe online, which is increasingly important in today’s world.

The driving force behind this effort is Mahtabul Islam Uday, the Executive Director of CURE-Bangladesh. His vision is to see this training spread to every community where children and young people need to be protected, informed, and given the power to speak up. “We believe every child has the right to feel safe, whether they are offline or online. We want to make sure this message reaches every part of Bangladesh,” said Uday.

This training marks another step forward in CURE’s ongoing work to build stronger communities and support young people leading the way for positive change. The now better-equipped volunteers have promised to share what they’ve learned through visits to schools, sessions in villages, and ongoing activities. This active approach is a significant move towards creating safer and more knowledgeable places for children and young people all over Bangladesh.
