Educational institutions across the country reopened on Sunday after a nearly 40-day break during Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr.

Ahead of reopening, the Ministry of Education issued several important guidelines. Schools and colleges have been instructed to thoroughly clean their campuses and maintain cleanliness regularly. Authorities are also required to closely monitor daily cleaning activities.

The ministry further directed institutions to organise weekly cleanliness campaigns involving both teachers and students. They have also been advised to carry out tree plantation programmes and ensure proper maintenance of campus gardens. In addition, institutions should arrange motivational activities to raise awareness among students about the importance of cleanliness.

Earlier, due to global concerns and the need to conserve electricity and energy, all classes and examinations in schools, colleges, and universities were suspended from March 9 to March 28. This also extended the Eid holidays.

Following the break, academic activities have now resumed in most higher educational institutions, including Dhaka University.

To make up for the learning gap caused during Ramadan, government primary schools will remain open for the next 10 Saturdays. As part of this plan, classes will also be held on April 4, even though it is usually a weekly holiday.
