Freedom fighter Afrika Suting was buried with state honor

The best child of the nation, the brave freedom fighter Africa Suting, passed away with the nation’s guard of honour, Christian religious prayers, floral tributes and the tearful eyes of relatives and children.

Brave freedom fighter Afrika Suting (78), a resident of Eolachhra Punji, Karmadha Union, Kulaura Upazila, Moulvibazar, died last Thursday (November 30) night. He is a recognized valiant freedom fighter among the Khasia community. He is survived by his wife, four daughters and two sons.

Father Sagar Rosario, Pastor of Kulaura Lakshipur Mission, conducted the funeral prayer meeting organized by the Eolachhara Khasia Punji Catholic Congregation at noon on Saturday (December 2). Relatives, neighbors, administration officials, public representatives, brave freedom fighters and people from various Khasia Punjis attended the prayer meeting.

Then at 2 pm Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Mehedi Hasan gave the guard of honor organized by Kulaura Upazila administration. Kulaura police sub-inspector Debashish Talukder and policemen.

Also present on the occasion were ex-member of parliament freedom fighter M A Matin, Chairman of Karmadha UP Mohibul Islam Azad, freedom fighter Commander of Kulaura Upazila Shushil Chandra Dey, freedom fighter Habibur Rahman, General Secretary of Khasi Social Council Phila Patmi, Prichingli Sung, Kubraj Ant Punji Undan, The general secretary of the organization and tribal women leader Flora Babli Talang, Palak Pirin Suting, information and publicity secretary of Khasi Social Council Saju Marchiang, Karmadha UP member Sylvester Pathang, president of Khasi Student Union Sylhet branch Alijak Tangsong, Raju Rupsi, Evening Yangyung and others.

After offering floral tributes to the coffin of the brave freedom fighter Afrika Suting by various organizations, he was buried at 4 pm.
