Mass Engineering Day and the 52nd Foundation Anniversary of the Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) were celebrated in Moulvibazar.
On Tuesday (November) at 11 a.m. a rally was taken out in front of the Municipal Auditorium in the city, went around the Press Club premises, and ended at the Auditorium.
In a short discussion meeting held in the municipal hall, the convener of Moulvibazar District Executive Committee of the Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) Under the chairmanship of Md. Kamruzzaman, Municipal Mayor Md. Fazlur Rahman was present as the chief guest and special guest 2 Number Ward Councilor Asad Hossain Moku.
In the speech of the chief guest, the mayor Md. Fazlur Rahman said, “Diploma engineers work more in the sun than BUET engineers. As the economy of Bangladesh has reached this stage, the contribution of diploma engineers is more. Nobody have chance of neglect to the Diploma engineers. I wish them well.”
Direction of IDEB district executive committee secretary Abdul Munim municipal executive engineer Nazrul Islam, Roads and Highways Department district secretary Arif Hussain, water development board sub-assistant engineer Khurshed Alam, Pabel Ahmad spoke at the discussion meeting.
In the president’s speech Md. Kamruzzaman said, ‘Since 1969, many of our leaders and workers have shed blood on the streets by agitating for various demands including their status and honors. Many lost their jobs, were killed in police firing, and many mothers lost their child. On this day, we remember all those leaders and workers with respect.’
He also said that diploma engineers worked in 80 percent of the country. Diploma Engineers were the only ones who started the works, but senior post holders toke advantage. He added that the largest professional organization of Bangladesh with more than 5 lakh members was the Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh.
