The Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources of Bangladesh has emphasized that no natural gas has ever been supplied to India via pipeline, dispelling misconceptions and misinformation regarding the supposed gas supply disruption.

According to the ministry’s statement released on Thursday, claims made on social media since Sunday are inaccurate.

These claims assert that the previous Awami League government exported gas to India through pipelines, and that the current government has halted this supply and closed the pipeline connections.

Additionally, a video supporting these claims has been circulating, but it is two years old and pertains to a different event, the ministry said.

The ministry emphasized that Bangladesh has never supplied natural gas to India via pipeline. Although LPG is exported, its supply has not been halted.

The rumors about the closure of gas pipelines to India, specifically to the Seven Sisters region, are entirely false and misleading.

The ministry has refuted these claims, describing them as baseless and intended to deceive.
