The hospital premises became heavy with the cries of the child. The deceased was identified as the daughter of Mannan Miah of Dharmapur village under the Munshibazar union of Upazila. The incident took place on Thursday, July 1 at 6 pm.
According to the relatives of the deceased, Sumi Begum, daughter of Mannan Miah of Dharmapur village in Munshibazar union and wife of Emran Miah of Sarkarbazar area of Khalilpur union in Moulvibazar, was admitted to Kamalganj Upazila Health Complex on Wednesday afternoon. But after completing the medical test on Thursday morning, she was taken to the general women’s ward of the hospital and her condition became critical.
Seeing Sumi’s condition, Sumi’s mother Rahena Begum and father Mannan Mia repeatedly asked the on-duty doctors and senior nurses to take her to Moulvibazar for better treatment. But the doctors and nurses did not listen to them. At 12 noon, Sumi’s condition worsened and senior nurse Anita Sinha and midwife Ratna Mandal gave her an injection. Since then, Sumi has not seen any movement and on-duty doctor Munna Sinha and nurses have repeatedly told the patient that the patient is asleep and will not be disturbed. When the nurse was informed that the patient was not moving in the afternoon, the nurses took Dr. Munna Sinha and in fact, he declared Sumi dead.
Rahena Begum, the mother of the deceased Sumi, complained that the nurse and duty doctor of the hospital was responsible for her daughter’s death. We want to judge them.
However, duty doctor Munna Sinha and midwife Ratna Mandal said that the relatives of the deceased patient did not ask us to refer the patient. There is nothing wrong with our treatment. If necessary, you can talk to the higher authorities.
