Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila BNP Council: Majnu President, Maruf GS

The highly anticipated conference of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila unit, was successfully concluded today (June 22). The conference, which commenced at 10 AM, continued until 4 PM, with voting for five important posts conducted through a secret ballot.

Md. Mujibur Rahman Majnu was elected President, securing 420 votes, winning by a narrow margin of just 9 votes. His opponent, Md. Fakhrul Islam, received 411 votes.

In a thrilling contest decided by a single vote, Md. Sadikur Rahman Sadik emerged victorious for the Senior Vice President post with 227 votes. His closest competitor, Md. Fakruzzaman, received 226 votes. Among other candidates, Ruhel Baksh received 195 votes and Abdul Karim Imani received 181 votes.

Maruf Ahmed secured a significant victory in the General Secretary position, defeating his opponent Md. Rana Khan Shahid (276 votes) with a substantial 557 votes.

Md. Shafiur Rahman was elected as Senior Joint General Secretary, winning with 331 votes.
Md. Kajal Mahmud was elected as Organizing Secretary.

A four-member election commission was formed to ensure the smooth conduct of the conference. Aslam Mukit, a member of the District BNP Convener Committee, served as the Chief Election Commissioner, with Bokshi Misba-ur-Rahman, Abul Kalam Belal, and Bokshi Jubayer Ahmed as members.

A total of 16 candidates contested the election. The spontaneous participation of local leaders and activists and the peaceful environment of the polling paved the way for new leadership.
It is understood that the newly elected leaders will soon consult with the District BNP to form a 101-member full Upazila committee.
