One person has died and another is critically injured after a collision between two launches and a trawler at Sadarghat Launch Terminal in Dhaka.

The accident happened around 5pm during the busy Eid travel period. According to Kotwali Police chief Shah Md Faisal Ahmed, two to three people are still missing.

A witness, Samrat Hawlader, said a launch was reversing to leave the terminal when the trawler got stuck between it and another launch. During the crash, one passenger’s leg was cut off, and another was pushed into the water.

There were about seven to eight passengers on the trawler. After it sank under the launches and later came up, no one was found on board, and their locations are still unknown.

The incident caused panic among passengers at the terminal, but police quickly brought the situation under control.
