In a lawsuit brought against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and six other people for the July 19 murder of grocery store Abu Sayed in the city’s Mohammadpur neighborhood during the anti-discrimination student protest, a court on Sunday slated October 15 for the submission of an investigative report.
The date was established by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Zaki Al Farabi since the investigating officer for the case was unable to turn in the report on Sunday.
On August 13, Mohammadpur resident Amir Hamza Shatil begged to file a murder charge against Sheikh Hasina and others with Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury.
This was the first murder case filed against Sheikh Hasina after she resigned and fled the country on August 5.
The other accused are Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former inspector general of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun among others.
