The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has started preparing a fair and unbiased list of alleged extortionists across Bangladesh. This list will include everyone involved in extortion, from local offenders to top-level masterminds.

The initiative comes after a directive from the home minister to identify and take action against those involved in such crimes. According to RAB spokesperson Wing Commander MZM Intekhab Chowdhury, once the list is completed, strict legal action will be taken against all offenders without exception.

He also said that all 15 RAB battalions have been instructed to begin this work, and the results will be visible soon. Responding to concerns about political pressure, he claimed that RAB has not faced any interference since the July Uprising and is working independently.

Regarding a recent allegation of a Tk 500,000 extortion attempt at a hospital in Dhaka’s Shyamoli, RAB said the matter is under investigation. They assured that once the accused is confirmed, action will be taken.

The spokesperson also mentioned that RAB has achieved several recent successes in tackling crime.
