Selima Rahman, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, claimed on Friday that those extorting money under the guise of the party are actually Awami League infiltrators.
She said this at a debate hosted by the pro-BNP platform Zia Projonmo at the National Press Club in Dhaka.
Speaking during the function, Selima advised the BNP to exercise prudence when adding new members and emphasized the need for the party to continue being watchful for infiltration.
She issued a warning, saying that volunteers from the Awami League are trying to join the BNP everywhere in an effort to sabotage its operations.
Selima Rahman also emphasized the importance of unity among BNP and its allied parties following their simultaneous movement, urging the nation to unite against the current regime.
She paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the students-people movement and criticized former prime minister Sheikh Hasina for clinging to power through violence, likening her actions to “genocide.”
She reiterated the need for discipline and honesty among the younger generation, calling them the future leaders of the country. Additionally, she warned that former Awami League men are behind the unrest and chaos, further stating that BNP must remain alert to such provocations.
