A 15-year-old domestic worker named Maya Tanchangya was found dead in Ramu upazila of Cox’s Bazar on April 13. She was from the Hwaikyong area of Teknaf.

Police recovered her hanging body from a house in the Sridhan Para area of Fatekharkul union. She was found in the kitchen on the second floor of a three-storey building, hanging from a ceiling fan with a scarf.

After receiving information, police arrived at the scene, broke open the door, and recovered the body. It was later sent to Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

According to initial reports, Maya had been working in the house for about three years. On the day of the incident, she reportedly had an argument with the house owner’s wife around noon.

Police suspect it may be a suicide, but the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the autopsy report.
