A complaint was filed on Monday in the Cyber Tribunal Court of Chittagong against Sheikh Hasina, the former prime minister, and fourteen other people, including Md. Ali Arafat, the former state minister for information, and Zunaid Ahmed Palak, the former state minister for ICT.
Judge Zahirul Kabir Chowdhury received a case submitted by Nur Mohammad on Monday, September 9, according to Mejbah Uddin Chowdhury, the tribunal’s public prosecutor.
The plaintiff, Nur Mohammad, is a resident of Safiyabad in Feni district, and owns two online businesses: “Duranta Supplier” and “Duranta Bazar”.
His case alleges that his daily business transactions of Tk20 lakh were completely halted after Sheikh Hasina’s decision to obstruct internet and broadband services on July 18, leading to delays and disruptions that caused losses of around Tk1 crore.
“The case accuses the former prime minister, state ministers, and others of damaging state and public property,” stated plaintiff’s attorney Naushed Ali. The Chittagong Metropolitan Police’s (CMP) Cyber Crime Unit has been given the go-ahead to conduct an investigation after the court accepted the complaint.”
