GOC of Bangladesh Army’s 17 Infantry Division and Sylhet Area Commander Major General Chowdhury Mohammad Azizul Haque Hazari said that with the help of the army, administration, student coordinators and volunteers, about 9 thousand people have been rescued from the flood-affected area. Of these, 2,000 people have gone to shelters and the rest have gone to relatives’ homes. Since the beginning of the flood, the army has been working alongside the flood victims.
He said these things after the medical camp and distribution of relief materials organized by the army at Tilagaon Union of Kulaura Upazila of Moulvibazar on Saturday (August 24) afternoon.
Major General Chowdhury Mohammad Azizul Haque Hazari said that the relief material was distributed from a part of the army soldiers’ food. Besides, 500 packets of relief were distributed on my own initiative. Army medical teams are working round the clock in flood affected areas.
He called upon everyone including expatriates to stand by the flood victims from their respective positions.
